Plasma Theory Department

The Department was established in 1970. The first Head of the Department was Dr. Sci., Professor V. N. Oraevsky. From 1974 till 2005, the Department was headed by Dr. Sci., Professor T. A. Davydova. At present, two Doctors and seven Candidates of Sciences are working at the Department.

Principal scientific activities
Theoretical investigation of the nonlinear wave and particle interactions in non-equilibrium plasmas and of their influence on heating and transport processes.
Study of nonlinear wave structures (solitons, vortices) in plasmas and other nonlinear media.
Examination of wave processes in dense, low-temperature plasmas of radio-frequency inductive sources.
Applications of basic research results to solving the problem of controlled fusion and to developing the plasma technologies.
